I've always seen it that way, I have a lot of respect for the pilots. When you are in the Army you put your life on risk and pilots put more than their life on risk, they carry the weight of everyone else as well.
You are absolutely right, a pilot, whether combat or transport, has a very hard task, they rarely go into action, but when they do, they have a huge responsibility, the degree of stress must be brutal, and there is also the physical condition what they must have
The pilots are the darlings of the force, even more so than those of the navy, since very little goes into combat, I understand that we laugh at them.
I am a combat pilot, our work is very punctual but we can end a war with one shot, or easily start one. I'm not saying that the other parts of the military aren't important, I'm just saying that each is important in its own way.
It seems to me that whoever laughs at the air force is ignorant, the work you have to go through to become a pilot is immensely stressful, on the other hand there is the responsiveness that they must have at crucial moments.
The one who laughs at the air force is because it has never been in strong combat and has been rescued by some Alcón, during one of the incursions in Afghanistan they surrounded us surprisingly, we managed to weaken a flank and leave through a small path but there were still many against We, an emergency call and the deployment of an air attack in hostile territory, we only had 2 casualties and only one fatality, we could have been 179 dead.
