Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

“Advanced Analytics” is a term I like
I like that, Advanced Analytics Associate or something like that.
Analytics translator is a name McKinsey came up with for people who were equal parts deep in business and data science.
My buddy wrote their piece on it, think it’s pretty good.
Thank you for this, I am reading some of their articles on it
Can you elaborate technical skills ?
You may be looking for a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Engineer. They help with building ML pipelines, ML ops and ML serving.
Man if I didn’t just start at D, I’d be perfect. I am a CPA that recently transitioned to Analytics consulting, my skillset is BI dev, python, SQL, and cloud but I am not a full blown data scientist or engineer but am eager to learn. What’s this role pay?

Also citizen data scientist is stupid. As an ex scientist, we use that term "citizen" for laypeople who aren't paid to do basic things. It makes them feel better about being unpaid labour yet contributing to science.
All sorts of creativity, I have seen something similar where the company was looking for data gods with magic wands . They r looking for a combo of data scientist with MBA and has good hands on knowledge in data engineering. I want to understand if they were high when they were writing the jd
Working for Meta. We have exactly the same problem. Data Engineer is what we call them but all DEs won’t have understanding of DS concepts. So we call them DEs with DS understanding

A few years back, we internally (industry) sold in a CDP with an automated query engine that converted plaintext to complex dataframes (PySQL / PySpark). We pointed out that data scientists were being asked to clean and prep data and explain segments and cohorts instead of actual DS work, because only they had enough skill to do so. After launching the product, we democratized the data prep and exploration, making everyone - including the CEO - citizen data scientists, and freeing up the actual data scientists.
When I hear the term citizen data scientist, I think: everyone gets a trophy... you may not be able to do the hard work, but now you can look like you do! Don't be a citizen data scientist...
I'm new here and I searched Junior Data Scientist that leads me to your post. Are you still looking to fill this position? I'd love to learn more if not but seems like the system wouldn't let me PM.
