Hi Fishes, I am considering a Senior Engineer role with Alteryx (previously Hyper Anna) Sydney. If it's not too much trouble, I was hoping if anyone here could share their experience of working at Alteryx Sydney in terms of Culture, work life balance, politics, work pressure, people, Leadership and product. Thanks.

At Amazon, what is the difference between a Program Manager and Technical Program Manager? It looks like the Technical one gets paid about 25% more but not sure what roles/responsibilities they do differently. Amazon

I love what DC Lead 1 said. I will add, that IF you do choose to get some work done, wait until Friday morning to send any emails. Most people will probably still have the day off, but today is meant to be spent doing whatever you want - family time, Friendsgiving, alone time enjoying an activity… if you send emails your coworkers will likely get alerts on their phones and it will take them out of the moment or whatever they are doing - or are trying to do. You won’t look like the “loser” you mention in your post but you will be sending off a “Scrooge” vibe. Let everyone enjoy the holiday without work looming over their heads. Whatever you end up doing, I hope you enjoy the day. 🍀
I understand you! But give yourself a break! Do something fun. It doesn’t have to be spending time with family. I’m in the same boat as you and this is my time of the year to travel for myself. Enjoy and I hope you have a great time.
If you’re a Director of Marketing, I wouldn’t send emails because you will “look like a loser”. I wouldn’t send emails because as a Director, you are a leader and do not want to send a message (conscious or unconscious) that people cannot relax. People need to feel like they can take time off and even seeing an email notification pop up on one’s phone can be anxiety-inducing. Would you want to see an email from your boss on a holiday you celebrate? Or your wedding day? Leaders lead with empathy. Do the work and draft the emails if you want, but delay the email send time :-).
I completely get this, if you feel like working do it. But you could take this time to rest and recharge as well?
Go to the movies.
As others said, spend this extended weekend for yourself. Self care is always important. If you do want to work on your emails, you can either draft them and look them over Monday morning, or type your final versions and set them to be automatically sent Monday morning.
If you have friends and they’re around spend time with them as well
