I feel I was u derhired. I am an analyst. Why did I apply for that position? I guess I'm an idiot. Well, I'm a CISSP, security+, cism, cysa and a few more. Highly experienced in aws. I can do it all from cobol to assembly to c++ And yes j know all the administrative stuff. I know NIST like the back of my hand. I know coso, cubit, iso.. I have other advanrages: I know people on boards and have gotten a great relationship. Been here 1.4 years. Passed up for a promo. Devastated. So no appeal?

The I'm almost suicidal. I say almost because I would never do that. I fear death a lot. Too much survival instinct.

But if I had a lack of fear of death I'd off myself. That's how horrible I feel.

I told my whole family never to speak to me again. I am changing my name on Friday Bd moving out of state without telling anyone.

That is how hummuliated, worthless and pathetic. I was a fixture ar defcon. I Hcked 12. And now look at me.

I basically died. I hD to ditch Ll my friends or get called a pwned noob.

Not kidding. Never ever failed s cyber thing before. I have no idea how I can have a life

Hey OP! You are more valuable than you think!
Take a vacation to a dream destination it will help refresh.
If you need to talk don’t hesitate to DM me

Dude you and your life is worth more than that stupid promotion. If they don’t see the value in you and you gotta find another company that will. You sound super experienced, I doubt you will have a hard time finding a new role in the current market.

Try not to find joy in external factors that you can't always control (promotions, other people, reputation). Look into doing something you find fun and bumble your way though it embracing being a noob. If you want to turn the page on your job, look elsewhere or talk with your leadership to understand what bar you missed for the promotion. Usually in consulting technical depth is only one pillar that is looked at for promos.

Apply to another company at a more reasonable level for your experience. You aren't "stuck" as an analyst

Hey op do you need to vent. I got you feel free to dm.

Currently in risk consulting but seconding at an international bank for internal audit on trade related scopes. Recently got offered to join them at a higher level position. Need advice on career path of IA at bank if it's worth, because they pay would be gradually higher than consulting in the later years when reaching VP level and coming in from different industry, the new scopes are interesting. But what would I be missing out on if I stayed in consulting?
