Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

I think part of this is that people are more deferential via video conference. It's more difficult to figure out who's going to talk and who wants to talk than it is in person. I wouldn't worry about the awkward pauses too much.

Awkward silence isn’t bad. Staying quiet is a learned skill, they will speak to fill the void, it’s human psychology 101 stuff, if you use those silences to your advantage,
Record a session and rewatch it. I did this recently. It maybe painful to rewatch, but it's a good learning opportunity to identify strengths/weaknesses. I'd also ask for feedback from meeting participants
Saying things like “I’m hearing silence so let’s move on/next topic” helps. Also naming someone, “hey XYZ can you maybe add more color” helps. Just my experience thus far. These are things that were communicated non-verbally during in-person meetings via eye contact, hand gestures, etc.
Embrace the silence if you are looking to prompt some discussion
I’ll sit on the silence for a bit and then call people’s names out for their thoughts. If they don’t have much I’ll summarize the takeaway or next steps and move on to the next item/area.
