I got an offer at L.E.K. Consulting but after all I’ve heard, not sure if it’s still worth accepting. Something about having to be dismissed before logging off!? Also heard you need to ping the team if you’re ever away from your computer, even if it’s 11pm. If these rumors are half true, there’s no chance I’m working there

Everything said is true. If you want to grind 24/7 M-F and get good experience do it. If you have the slightest inkling of not wanting to do that DO NOT DO IT. LEK were some of my darkest days.
24/7 is extreme and maybe practice dependent. I’ve been here several years and focus in industrials in bos/ny and would say it’s not that hard of work, if you enjoy talking to people in industry and learning about their markets, and modeling
I work probably 9:30-b/w 9 and 11p M-W. Break for an hour or so to commute and eat dinner in the evening. I know some people put hour long non-case-commitments every day too for gym and stuff but I go before work.
We usually get out by 6 on Thursdays and 5 on Fridays
For consulting you should know what you’re getting into and I don’t think this is bad all things considered. I have friends traveling every week again other places and it’s brutal
I would seriously pass. I left recently and I am so much happier now.
I'm director of growth and strat at a tech startup

I can’t speak for LEK but the companies I’ve worked at had the black limousine service waiting for employees who work past 9pm. They would take you home regardless if it was out of state or in the city. It was all covered by the company. To my knowledge many companies in the city do this. If the expectation is for you to stay past 9pm and they aren’t covering your meal and car then I wouldn’t take it
LEK does cover late meals and Ubers. $200? Absolutely not.
L.E.K. Is a solid boutique but is not that broadly known outside consulting if that is important. It is also known to have a British culture (I have both close friends and extended family who each spent decades there) if that means anything - legacy Monitor does have a Boston feel to it as another example. This is what happens with mid sized boutiques.
It doesn’t sound like the OP actually wants to work there based on the question. Independent of what others say, and their experiences are varied, if one is asking that question in the first place, you have your answer.
Also I want to stress that $200 each way is not the norm, not even for a Partner and especially during this broad downturn. You may think you are worth that because your firm does that now, but if you ask for that in negotiations, I guarantee you will sound entitled and that will leave a bad taste in the mouth of an employer you really want to work for one day. Sorry. I would factor the cost of commuting into a new job.
Reading the comments this is a 100% troll post...
Have to be dismissed before logging off, that is laughable
You know there is a train that goes from NYC to Greenwich.
Haha you mean take the train with the other peasants who are trying to be fiscally responsible? I don’t think that fits OP’s style living in Greenwich and thinking they “deserve” the same benefits as the leaders and executives that live there. 😂 what a joke of a human being….
Be dismissed to log off? Someone please tell me that’s not true. That would be an unquestionable hard pass for me.
Any idea what LEK pays in London office (Consultant C1 grade),base, bonus split etc?
