Why would it be harder to exit if you boomeranged?

You probably aren't qualified. But you fooled them.
You weren't qualified for this job either. You interviewed well then joined and worked your butt off. Well done. Go do it again.
Go for it. Everyone is faking it till they make it.
I mean if you don’t want it, DM me. I’ll take it. 2 years MBB and 1.5 years at a large retail bank in Product.
The current industry I joined is new. Im a direct report to the COO, but most of our exec team Didnt come from industry. They are taking the first couple months to learn, see the facilities, etc. I’d take the leap but ensure I am getting time to catch up.
I was just in a similar situation, just with far less money on the table. Had two offers - one was for a job I know I can do and do well; the other was for about $50k more but was a job I thought I was less likely to succeed at.
If it were just me or me and my wife, I would've taken my shot, but we've got kids. $50k is going to feel like a lot less if I get fired in 6 months, after the labor market has cooled, and need to take another 6 months to find a decent paying job. I took the job that felt more attainable.
Great situation to be in, but I certainly feel your concerns. Neither choice is a bad one for you. Congrats!
The people that will report to you will likely hate the fact that an outsider got a position like that over them so if that discourages you then don't go for it I guess?

I left consulting for an exec VP role at a PE-backed company last year. Feel free to DM me to chat. 🍻

What’s your current level? How’d you find this role?
Bruh in terms of risk, this ain’t it
If you are leaving consulting to industry , you’ll always have these thoughts doubting yourself. I left after consulting after a decent stint , 4 months in and still onboarding but I trust my smarts to get up to speed quickly. You’re MBB I’m sure you can meet expectations assuming they’re not unreasonable.
