I got laid off with no warning. Reason given was my utilization was low at 81.8%. No performance problems. Would it be inappropriate for me to apply back to PwC to the teams I discussed rolling onto?

Apply back to PwC 😂 You certainly have low standards

like

If it was not a performance issue then ideally they should have given you some time to see if some other partner is willing to get you into their group. However, if they have already laid you off, i believe it's extremely difficult to get hired by a different group. Moreover you would you want to work for them when they laid you off?

like

Ya I had an interview with EY a few days ago. And Deloitte. I am waiting to hear back.

like

Ya the partner was missing targets so bad his account was given to another partner. Thanks all! I hope it all pans out :)

like

Bcg go f yourself. My immediate supervisor was super happy with my performance. She didn't know I was getting laid off until I was laid off. I was borrowed by another team so I was an easy target to make numbers look better. We had our performance reviews in June and my performance was rather good.

like

This is blowing my mind. Wow. 81.8% is a problem? Wtf

like

I told my partner as he was firing me that two other teams would take me. Didn't matter. Public sector.

like

Low standards? Each team is different, each partner is different.

like

Ya he is a complete asshole. I think if they spoke with my immediate supervisor things would look good on my behalf.

like

Best of luck OP!! We're rooting for you!!

like

Yeah, not believing anything I am told lately.

like

What group OP? Other big four is always an option especially this time of year when a lot of people leave after promotions and/or bonus payouts.

like

Got it. The partner sounds like a ahole. My suggestion would be look outside unless you feel the lay off part will not make a difference to the partners in the other two groups.

like

Yea I am quite sure that it was not your fault, the partner was probably not hitting his targets and you might have been an easy target at this time compared to others. See joe ey and Deloitte goes. Everything happens for good so chill.

like

When were you laid off?

like

What field are you in

like

This month. Public sector.

like

Good luck OP. Clearly more of a partner issue than your issue. Keep your head up. Look both at other firms but industry too. You will find something great!

like

Holy shit PS did that. Damn

like

That to. I was told you really have to mess up in PS to get the boot

I seem to go through this cycle where I'll try to fix a problem, fix it and then go back to my old ways. I'm trying to fight against it but basically my performance review is coming up and I think it's likely I'm going to be let go because of my failure to meet expectations. Earlier in the year I was going through a rough time and working through it, I have gotten better over the course of the year but I feel it's not enough. I got fired from my last job. I'm so sick of this cycle

Boomer. I am in between jobs. Laid off in 10/21 after 16+ yrs, with an ABA firm. RIF. Still on excellent terms. Took my time living off generous package and didn’t seriously start applying until 01/22. Made a rookie mistake and accepted first offer.
Turns out job wasn’t as advertised. Mutual parting of ways 3/22. Due diligence is critical.
Now interviewing a LOT. Some temp work, I still have “it”. I relate to all gens. Willing to mentor AND learn from all. Tech savvy, CTE from day one. Leads?

Have a big interview tomorrow. The question I dread the most is about why you’re looking for a new job. The honest answer is that there isn’t enough work to go around at my agency and I want to get ahead of the inevitable layoffs. What’s the best way to tell them this? Do I just make something else up entirely?

I’m struggling. I left an agency I liked last year due to growth limitations and since then I’ve worked at 2 different agencies and can’t seem to find my footing. The first one seemed like a good fit at first but then it turned out to not be the best place for me so I left. At my current agency I feel super undervalued. I’m always raising my hand and offering to help where I can and no matter what I do, I don’t feel utilized or valued or part of the team. It’s really taken a toll on my confidence

I started a full time in-house design job that pays extremely well. I barely have to work at all. This makes me very confused since I kept hearing stories of people working 60+ hr weeks as designers at ad agencies. I am not complaining, but I have this creeping irrational feeling that I’ll get fired for not working even though there’s nothing for me to do. Should i be making up projects or asking for more work? Or just chill out? I just feel very confused. Are a lot of full time jobs like this?
