I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Hey! I’m new here and would like some input. I’ve been working in a new position for almost 5 months. In that time I’ve witnessed some unethical and lots of unprofessional behavior. It's sad to see people with 2-3 years of experience getting paid more than you when u have double the experience. 😄 Best part is they are still complaining of getting less. Well I guess you should never settle. New gen is giving a hard time to the experienced folks. I think this is the high time to upgrade your skills. Come out of your comfort zone and start looking for new opportunities. I think this is the best time to switch if u haven't already in quite some time.
