1. See if your college professor know anyone who can give you a break as an intern. While interning, try to learn whatever you can and start applying for jobs. Note that resume tailoring per job requirements is the key to getting an interview.
2. Build network on LinkedIn. Look for companies you are interested in. Look for people in the role that you want to be in and add them to your network. When sending invite send a message as well. When you apply to a job in those companies, ask individuals from your network if they would refer you for the position. Most people do not mind providing a referral. Referral is key to getting a job interview.
3. Once you have interview, start preparing for behavioral questions, how to effectively answer questions.

If it grad school for a masters, you have a choice, with or without dissertation. Neither will require a preconceived notion of what classes to take or what thesis to write when applying. You’ve got basically at least a semester to make fundamental choices.
PhD is different, some places want you to know what you want to do up front, and who to study under. Other places like mine give you a year to decide, about when to take the final first year comprehensive exam. I still changed my mind after.
