I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google
Hi Everyone, I am trying to apply for a Technical Support role at Dropbox I’m entering all the required fields but there seems to be an issue, when I hit submit after filling the form, it doesn’t submit and throws error ‘Looks like you left this blank! Please fill out this required field’ when all the fields are entered already (I have checked so many times, and filled the form from scratch several times too). Anyone from Dropbox who can put me in touch with HR or suggest what I should do next?

There's only 1 career path that matters and makes sense : make as much money as you can while doing any task which fulfils you as much as it can.
Other than that, be aware of all the positions you consider you'd probably enjoy trying and performing and any potential steps forward or steps needed to reach them. Keep as many potentials open as possible at any given time and try to make any career decision you make to advance you in as many of those as possible.
Treat it all as a gamified levelling-up tree as much as possible, be aware of combos, requirements, breakpoints, synergies.
Yes, STEM is endless reskilling and unpskilling. I have spent more money for this, and have still had difficulty finding opportunities! The amount of days you spend unemployed in STEM is something no one talks about! Most hiring is through internal referrals primarily. Those recruiters aren’t at fault. More people who finish STEM in high school are having to pivot as well! Even PhDs and post docs are having to offer their services for free! Again, not something that should be happening! The CS industry at least used to have enough jobs so the layoff time is less, but with AI, that may possibly have been impacted as well. Just because the powers that be keep talking STEM this, STEM that, please don’t saddle STEM on your children without due diligence. Schools should teach kids to do own business if they plan to do STEM. That may be more impactful! If one fails, the other can help them?

My understanding is most careers are collapsing into how well you can manage AI. So I feel like it’s not the same as before anymore.
Was this conversation a Manager led discussion or shared reflection between peers? If the former, typically linear career path as there would be sunk company costs for training (which includes your daily routine) and reduced efficiency (lateral transfer to another department) which results in a linear progression at work. In RPG perspective, you maintain your Warrior class, as you level up. Each subsequent level results in more rewards but higher experience requirements to advance.
If the latter, I'd agree. Companies general consider flexibility, adaptability, trainability, and critical thinking some of the more valued traits in candidates.
