I had an email for a SA role in the Capital Project Services team at PwC UK inviting me for a screening call and asking for salary expectations. I gave a range (£70-75k)and made clear that the salary was negotiable. Got a reply back by the recruiter saying my application was rejected, but the portal says candidate withdrew. Is this normal - I'm a little annoyed that it would be rejected for this reason when I was clear about negotiating?

Never give a number up front. It doesn’t help you in any way especially if you’re flexible. Next time just say you want to learn more about the role through interviews first and looking for market rate based on what you learn.

That's what I normally would have done but their initial email said "Must be able to provide a UK salary expectation in line with the above role via email" as a condition of being able to book a screening call. Which seemed bizarre to me.

I would have said “market rate”. Sounds like they’re looking for a sucker who will take below market rate.

Hello fishes, I joined Nagarro on 24th of August. But still no project is assigned yet. Basically I am on bench. Now I am about to get an offer from ServiceNow. Hello all. My company just went through an acquisition and the company did some restructuring of job titles. When they did this we were all advised the company would be making sure our jobs pay aligned with the national average.
My issue with this is my job title went from a Technical Support Supervisor to a Customer Success Team Lead. I have voiced my concerns with management but have been advised job titles are semantics. In my eyes this is a demotion, and will affect how much my job is worth.
