I have a 2 hour interview with an agency tomorrow for a freelance role. This is my first time speaking with them, a recruiter set me up with them last week and they liked me enough to want to meet me (!!) I’m meeting the members of the team individually which is why it’s so long, but do you think a 2 hour interview right off the bat is a good sign? Any tips for not burning out over the course of 2 hours?

I had an hour long interview that turned into an almost 2 hour interview because we had so much to talk about and i vibed really well with the team! Don’t let the 2 hours intimidate you!! Longer interviews are always better imo!!

Oh sorry skipped over the freelance bit. Definitely ask if this could turn into a FT offer !!

2 hours for freelance?! Usually freelance is like a 15 minute call, if anything, so I’d say if they are devoting that much time to you they are probably extremely serious about you. It’s possible they might want the extra time because you are a junior, but either way I think it’s a good sign. I think having a lot of questions prepared and written down and easily accessible with specific questions for each person you’re meeting with is the most important thing you can do, as well as practicing active listening. If you do those things you should be able to stay engaged throughout the whole two hours.

Thank you for the tips! I’ll be researching some good questions to ask :)

2 hours for a freelance gig? Is there a chance this goes to a FT offer?

Forgot to add, this is most likely temp to perm!

Be cautious of time use the full 30 minute increments but be sure to prioritize questions since it can go quick. If a question you have is answered in the first interview have the next person elaborate on it further based on what you learned. Have water nearby as well.

Freelance typically is a 15 minute call max. Is this a small shop?

it’s a pretty big pharma agency!

I did 2 hours just last week for one of the big holding companies - also hoping it’s a good sign.

fingers crossed for both of us :)

2 hours seems excessive! How many people are you meeting with? Congrats on getting an interview though!

four! 30 minutes each
