Habibi! Anyone here
Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.
https://ergochair.co/collections/chairs/products/ergonomics-mesh-chair-w-adjustable-headrest-and-armrest?variant=32511617597491
My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
AMA.

Back down to 225k sorry.
It’s a conveyer belt, not a cliff.
You’re probably getting paid top of scale until you make partner.

As in same 8th year cravath/milbank pay?
Is there a newly-minted NEP/junior partner that you’re close with? Ask them how it worked.
Most firms already have a preset salary increase for associates that remain “past the scale” — its usually a nominal amount above top of the scale
Yeah - usually it’s 10k more per year

That 2026-27 sounds bs

Depends on your firm. At mine, your comp stays flat (no salary increase or additional bonus) after you top out on the lockstep.

Depends on the firm...
You can definitely negotiate salary. As a senior, I was making more than some NEPs ($800k all in) in the same office. I was invaluable to the team, so I was able to push it.
Depends. To the extent this helps, if the partnership also affords some equity participation/interest in the firm then that is a substantial step forward career wise and financially. Some would argue holding off on salary increase discussions until you are put up for partnership may assist the committee in approving your partnership quickly and smoothly. With that said, if you are doing defense work, consistently performing by bringing solid billable hours every month and staying on top of your case load - clients happy, carriers happy and firm happy - that's the trifecta that may warrant an amicable discussion regarding higher pay.
Maybe if you’re at the top firms (or super profitable ones). I’d say most firms don’t give you any increases. Maybe you can negotiate if you have leverage.

I was at 5k over the top of the associate scale the year I was a "9th" year associate at my firm (we had 8th years and I needed an extra year before promotion). It was before one of the recent raises, though. Got the same bonus as senior associates.
This happened to me. I was put up the next year and made partner. My base stayed the same but I got extra bonus both years, which they told me in advance. I think it was $25k but it’s been a while (at least a couple of raises ago).
