I have a job post I am being considered for at a bank for a VP position and in the description, it says the salary is New York - $170,00 $240,000 $280,000. And then this is supposed to be base salary, bonus and LTI component. I am not sure if this is a cumulative salary or in addition the base, you can get $240K in bonus…etc ? Anyone have any thoughts? I will probably ask, but thought to check in case anyone had a similar situation

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I joined EY GDS 10 months back at 40% hike (leaving PwC) and now Deloitte (DIJV) is offering me 2 level up designation at Manager level with another 40% hike. So this might be a better place to post this and ask this question: Uncle D has announced explicitly that most people won’t get a pay raise & bonus this year except for those promoted and high performers. Amid this crisis, are companies including other big 3, MBB, FAANG, boutique consulting firms still giving high raises and issue stocks? Can you share the impact from your firm?

Do you have to return the sign on bonus if you get laid off, sign on period (2 years) has not yet passed. I would also like to know the firm's severance policy.

Any really impactful books that have helped you career-wise? Not necessarily consulting focused. In need of guidance and a new book so figured I'd kill two birds with one stone or whatever.

A quick note about what I’ve experienced, in my decade long career, is the real advantage of MBB or FAANG - it gives you a shot at stretch roles that are outside your expertise. Not all the time or even most of the time compared to better candidates with specific experience for the role but gives you this wildcard shot at a vast array of opportunities.
