Do it. It’ll be much harder to do a startup later in your career.
Later in career you likely will have higher compensation (fewer roles in startups to match), may have more dependents (higher risk in jumping to startup), and more responsibility in current role (harder to leave without impacting relationships with clients/peers/management).
That seems like a lot for a series b startup, but definitely a pay cut assuming you’re consultant level at bcg. If you really want to leave and think the startup itself is very promising it’s worth it, will be tough to increase salary
Agreed here. This comp seems in line with expectations. The bet is obvi on the equity, 10-20k ain’t gona move the needle in base
YOE? C?
I am PL2, 7years bcg experience.
No series C needed as PE bought them, so could say they are series C
Think this is a good package for 2 years post MBA, not for a PL2 about to make principal. Would pass unless you are not going to make P. If we assume 60k equity valuation you are at 270k if we assume 90k equity you are at 300k. You would have to hit the 180k equity value to come out ahead vs your current gig
Also, even if I use 20x price to sales this company is not a unicorn. Do you know the current valuation of the firm? Beware of random PE backed companies, they are a dime a dozen
