With 10 yrs ex you should be shooting for something of base 160+ and 200+ initial equity grant
It’s not low for a Project Manager but you should realize exactly what a project manager is. It’s a super PMO role and no ownership over anything. There’s no career advancement, since you don’t get P&L experience.
You can get better exits outside of Project Manager - look at BizOps, SalesOps, Product, Marketing.
Manager makes like $140-160K base + $200K stock over 4 years with 10 years experience in those fields.
Depends. How tall are you
Really? Very surprising. Too low is what I'd say.
Cost of living in Austin and quality of life would make that offer adequate.
I have a friend who is a manager at FB and he makes $180 and gets the equity as well as bonus separately
Base sounds really low. What city?
Base is insultingly low
Don’t take it. I have 4yoe and just accepted an offer at Google that’s higher than that
OP, if you think you’ll make partner, then stick around. Otherwise it makes no sense to stay. These opps don’t come by too often, esp after 10 years in consulting, you’ll be pigeon holed as a consultant. Up to you though
Sounds low. Looks like level 4 (or 5 at most). I have seen analysts/consultants get better offers from Facebook/Google
Project manager? Fair. Product manager? Low.
Thanks all for the input !!! I really really appreciate it.. it’s in Austin ... my feeling was also that it is very low. Big red flag for me was that other project managers in the team are 6 years younger than me
Yea I don’t think this is a step up. At best different path and trajectory.
Depends on what you want to do with your career and reasons of moving.
I don’t think it’s a step up as well ! Glad I have all this perspective from you guys... I definitely want to move but not for this role. Few red flags to me ... one the pay was underwhelming, 5 years ago I would have been excited for this pay. Two, the other PM in the team graduated from
College 6 years after me. And finally, my peers who moved are in Lead roles ( title wise). If I had to climb up it will be from a much lower place vs wait for the right position and apply for it.
You’re not selling yourself short
For project manager it is fair offer. Last year it was 120k. Source - FB recruiter reach out.
Take it if the lifestyle works. It’s a big step up from Big 4, hence the discounted salary. You’ll be much better situated 5 years from now from a career perspective
Interesting that you see it as such a big step up from the B4 (@M5)
I would take it
