I have been applying to jobs for weeks with no response. I have set the lowest pay I will except at $13/hr and some $11/hr at the lowest! I graduate with my bachelors in cybersecurity this November and going for my masters right after. Have 10+ yrs warehouse experience, with computer repair and mechanical experience (car and warehouse machines)! Have swing lift, riding/push pallet jack and forklift experience. Is this low enough or should I ask for lower?

I have a feeling that the issue was not your salary rate, but rather the job market. You shouldn't accept a salary so low that you can't live on it. $11 in most places is not even a livable wage. I'd suggest focusing on your process, rather than just the amount you're asking.

I have resumes with cover page, I follow up call even though most don’t answer, and I’m open to all shifts. Don’t drink or smoke and physically fit. Do you think it’s my student loans on my credit that is making them weary?

I worked in a warehouse for 5 months when I was in between my “career job”. I made $16 an hour with basically no experience

like

Maybe it’s my approach! I have all the experience above and my last job started at 12.50hr. After almost 3 yrs they paid me 14.75. Maybe being more stern will prevent lower pay.

like

Don't do that but down the way you deserve. Low balling down only helps with a little change like 20 not 21. Makes it seem like you're not confident

like

It sounds like the problem is the market. I wouldn’t adjust downward any more personally but might consider different areas or specialties

like

I was thinking warehouse might want less experience so they can pay less. Might try help desk since my degree in cyber will be done soon!

maybe they dont want to put $$ into training a PT employee who will put school above their work and not be there in 6 months when they go for their masters?

how honest areyou being about your school/commitmen to the job. may want to reexamine who you are reponding!

None of the employers have even tried reaching out to find out what I will except. They don’t know I’m getting my masters, they just know I have a bachelors. Before I went back to school they were kind of low balling me, which made me go back to school. I assumed accepting the lowest amount would help them decide quicker. I’m a hard worker and companies aren’t loyal to employees, so don’t see upgrading as an issue. I want full time work and will work years after I get my masters!

Contact TEKsystems or Robert Half. If you are ABOUT to graduate with Cyber Sec.. then you have sub skills that IT can use. Don't do warehouse.. try.. try private contracting. I have no idea how/where to do that, but I am sure they are successful ppl who do that sort of work.

I’m going to check them out right now. I just don’t know what to do and really need a job. I don’t have a record, I only have student loans on my credit and can’t even get a call. Almost every company I call just tells me to wait! Thank you

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?

Interviewing at a dream company, and right from the first interview the recruiter told me we are way off on salary expectations. This was a little bit expected, as the role is requiring a few years less experience than I have and also in a much cheaper market. They already told me the salary range during this first call, but wondering if they like me enough and I get an offer, how I might approach negotiating for more. I would be making much less than I do now, but it is a dream company.
