The only pro I see is more social interaction. I was in a startup that couldn’t maintain any sort of social interactions and it sucked. If companies can maintain connections when remote that’s when they flourish.
We have a social committee that provides regular updates to the department and schedules after-hour activities for interested employees (in-office and remote). Smaller teams within the department also meet after work for dinner or other activities.
If it’s going in for a specific strategic reason, it’s absolutely worth it. If it’s RTO related where they’re forcing you in on a weekly cadence just because, zero benefits.
It's sold as face-to-face team building, which they feel can't be accomplished via Zoom. Mind you, this is for employees within a certain radius of the office and not for employees working out-of-state.
