One step at a time, young Padawan. A higher status achieve you must. Hard are the first class upgrades on Monday mornings for most of us fish.
"Can be" being the operative words.
Because if I were to decide to be on your flight in the next 48 hours, I would be in first class as diamond.
Delta still wants to sell those seats, so they only fill those 1st class seats based on revenue management projections. Be patient. Gold status is still pretty low
It depends on where and when you're going. If you're flying Christmas Day and it's a Saturday to Atlanta, it's more likely you'll get an upgrade than a Monday or Thursday in October. Jesus this concept isn't rocket science.
You got upgraded to Comfort+ as a gold medallion. That's standard and honestly if you were on a hub>hub flight you'd have likely gotten nothing. I'm confused why you're complaining.
They usually reserve a few first class seats for people who will pay to upgrade and a day or two before give the actual upgrade to status members
Because between now and Monday those seats could sell. They only upgrade into specific fare classes, means those upgrade classes have filled. Open seats != available upgrades. Only on day of will they fill all available seats.
Remove ruler to measure dick size, young Padawan. Then slap yourself in the face with it, you must.
Only diamond clears 5 days in advance and most flights (I'm diamond) I still only clear day of..
It totally depends on the flight and time. As a platinum I've been upgraded to first class well in advance for a Tuesday mid day flight to RDU and been #25 in line for an upgrade heading to Atlanta on a Monday morning.
Maybe it's because I'm in a Hub 🤷🏼♀️ I NEVER got upgraded as a platinum
Gold status and a quarter might get you a cup of coffee on your Delta flight
OP, it's because I check in a day prior with my platinum status and crush dreams. Only kidding..but no really. @M1 has it going on though ;).
Me with my diamond status don't get upgraded on busier flights even on day of. Delta usually ends up selling those seats to last minute business travelers.
@A1 gets me
I don't fly Delta but I'm pretty sure this holds true for all airlines... 72 hours is the earliest you would get upgraded, not the guaranteed time. All of the comments above are true and for United, if there are a ton of Golds (which there usually are) then they use other criteria to determine who gets upgraded. Please calm your salt that you don't get to exercise the gold status you've earned from the short status challenge you've earned from being an intern for a month....

Why didn't I get upgraded to first class?
If there are seats open in 1st why do they only upgrade you to comfort plus? Platinum clears 5 days in advance so those open 1st class seats should have already been taken by them if they were on the flight.
