I’m ID and although I enjoy the work stimulating and challenging, the stress is really to much. But I can’t accept that I am doing these stupid mistakes!
It’s sickening to me and extra few hours of sleep is not helping it.

I’ve just stopped caring. Plain and simple. I do my diligence to keep deadlines, and make sure my work product is good, but I’ve checked out besides that.

It sounds like you need to find some time to recenter… or your subconscious hates this job. Any particular event that started the cascade?

This is known as burnout. I’ve been there. Mostly due to the fact that i feel underpaid and under appreciated. Taking a week or a few days off may help

For those that are home grown (at least 2 levels) into the PPMD level, how has your relationship with juniors that you’ve been close to from the start evolved? Have you had to pull away from them (intentionally or not) or are you just as close? Is the saying “it’s lonely at the top” rung true for you?

I just saw that a Hubler watch given to Hitler sold at auction for $1.1 million. It is an interesting watch (despicable as the recipient of said watch was), but it got me thinking about a larger question: does anyone here collect watches owned by the famous (or infamous)?

I am a fourth year attorney and am on track to be partner of a small but well established ID firm in 2-3 years. Our bread and butter is ID but I have the freedom to take on any matters I like.

I do not want to be doing ID forever but I really don’t know what comes next. What other similar but more advanced (and better paying) fields of defense litigation are out there? Is the next type of civil defense litigation just going out and being hired by private companies?

I worked FT as a paralegal and went to law school in the evening. I recently interviewed at a small ID firm in employment law with about 9 attorneys. They asked for a writing sample. I dont have anything recent but provided what I had from last yr in a legal writing class, it was not enough for them. I became licensed this May so I dont have an array of motions to pick from. Then they asked for my undergrad transcript, at this point, I am now annoyed They are not Biglaw. Are they going overboard
