How is the work life balance in Citi?
Here is the scenario: Have 2 offers from IT MNCs and 1 from Citi. Citi's offer is the highest. Almost 5 lakhs diff in the fixed component. Although money is important, but I am also seeking a little balance with life. I was previously in ZS Associates and to be frank, life was hell. I am not looking to relive that phase again.

I need some brutal honesty, so bring it on y’all.
My name is so common so I had to come up with something that wasn’t already taken when making an email during college and ended up with cindyflippinworks@gmail.com
Now I’m a year and a half into my career and people either laugh at it or hate it...should I change it?

More interesting work and potential of getting hired beats higher pay. Money comes later. Pick work for now.

Depends how much that visa is worth to you tbh
I would say pick the job that allows you to put good work in your book. This is the time to do it and money will come later. Bring up the other offer and relocation situation (if there is), plus bring up your value as a designer and see if they can budge on pay if that’s a big factor
Negotiate salary with NYC. IMO, as an intern you should be looking to fill your book with professional work…BUT if you wanna be in tech, then SF is the spot to be
Makes no sense to me to do an internship and you won’t be able to put anything on your book. Unless, you just want the recommendations and an “in”…
I think for company A, it will really be more the client name. E.g Working on projects for Google/Meta etc. but not being able to add any case study in my portfolio due to nda whereas company B i can have more ownership but not 100% certain if client will be tech. I consider the tech exposure as i want to be in tech after this role
I would for sure bring up the salary and see what they say. Also pretty wild the pay difference is so drastic considering they have similar cost of living
It sounds like you have your answer in the SF one. But I know, the visa factor of the NYC one is tempting.
NYC definitely. The SF sounds like a death trap if you need a visa
Intern role? Always go with what you can put in your book. I would tighten my belt and take less money for the first five years of your career if it meant getting significantly better portfolio work.
That investment in yourself will pay much greater dividends later in your career. It can make a different in 50-100k as a design director or in whether or not you’re able to have a lucrative freelance career. Portfolio first, money will come.

How can you work in SF if the company won’t sponsor your visa? Are you planning on getting your own lawyer? Do you know how much that will cost and how long it will take?
2K is not very much, esp if you’re getting paid 2K+ more at your sf job
