Product Management at a large bank vs Business Analytics/S&O for FAANG? Recently started in the former role, but have interview calls for the latter just come up in my mailbox. Similar comp when adjusted for the different job locations. Can anyone help me with the Pros and Cons please. Hey OP, I did the exact thing in 2016. Interviewed out of state with 8 directors back to back to back. Crushed the interviews, didn't get the job. Near as I could tell, the needs of the account shifted or didn't evolve as planned.
Fast forward a year later, I had just begun my job hunt and had planned to hit them up, and they emailed me out the blue. I had one phone interview, then they flew me out, I had another 7 back to back interviews, got a job offer the next morning.
Moral of the story, if they reached back out to you, it's probably not because they think you're a top 10 candidate; it's because they think this role could be perfect for you, if you're interested. Anything else is a waste of time for them since you are a known quantity.
It's your job to lose. Go for it (if you want it).
What do you have to lose?
Thing is, when I interviewed last year the dept head and I really didn’t click. This would be for a new dept in a different location and not reporting to him.
How should I navigate this one? It feels odd.
