To quote Coldplay, “if you never try you’ll never know”
You can ask, but unless they explicitly told you “we would have hired you in at [whatever title] but couldn’t” this isn’t usually how it works. They interviewed you and hired you for the role they thought you were qualified for. There’s also a good chance there are different decision makers in charge of the other role.
Best case scenario, you’d be reneging and declining an offer you accepted for a chance at interviewing for a different one (with no guarantee of getting it). Worst case you come off as flaky and disingenuous, like as soon as you saw something better come along you no longer thought the job they offered you was good enough. You’re allowed to do this, of course - just like they’re allowed to offer you a job and then rescind the offer if a better candidate comes along - but that doesn’t make it reflect well on you.
To be clear, this new role is the same team and hiring manager and would actually be the direct manager of me in my currently accepted role.

It can’t hurt to ask. Good luck!
