Congratulations! I’m assuming it’s with a different firm… banks have the ability to dismiss you with pay for the two weeks if there is reason to believe that your access to customer data poses a threat to their business… so depending on your position or location relative to your new employer they may not release you… it’s also based on business need, so if your office is short staffed they may not dismiss you… another consideration is your licenses, typically FINRA licensed employees are dismissed per FINRA guidance…
There’s a lot of variables… but it largely depends on your current role and responsibilities and your access to privileged customer information…
Many do… but it’s not a requirement… and is largely based on firm policy…
I wouldn’t recommend getting fired… if you just stop showing up, it would be considered job abandonment, and you likely will not be eligible for rehire for several years… or in accordance with firm policy…
Do you have any unused PTO/vacation time left? Maybe use that
Am I missing something? Can’t you just quit? How can they force you to work out your two week notice.
The Leonine bank I used to work for had me in until the last minute of the last day. The department I was in, headed by an individual who would put Archie Bunker to shame, tried until the last minute to cause me to do something that would be terminable, so I wouldn't have returnability. I lasted all of 16 years at the next job, so...💙☮️
Just going to say, this explains so much about my experience as a PNC customer.
First of all, congratulations on the job. And I guess it depends on if you care about getting rehired or not. You could stop showing up, but that would pretty much burn your bridge at PNC.
Rising Star
Your options are simple. Either work the 2 weeks notice period and don’t burn bridges or don’t and burn bridges and quit on the spot.
One other thing to keep in mind is if you quit and leave if any of your current co workers are ever asked for input or decision makers for future hiring decisions I wouldn’t expect it to be position. Not only if you want to return to your old company but also any companies they eventually move to. Most industries are a fairly small world especially with using LinkedIn to find connections between people.
Don’t risk it, do your two weeks notice. It shows professionalism, and if this gig doesn’t pan out, you have a shot at returning. Eyes on the prize.

I’m a manager going to another bank as manger. I have access to clients and can even take staff with me. If they were smart they would release me right away
Well, you could’ve done that before you gave your official notice. The two weeks aren’t gonna make a difference one way or the other.
A bank is not a firm.

Congratulations! I also thought banks release you right away. If you just refuse to work you’ll burn the bridge. Not sure if they’d had the right not to pay you for those two weeks.
Definitely update the resumé with time, date and, or, location. Maybe add in a contact detail. Well done on the promotion.
Hard to work at a dealership when everyone makes 20% com but you only make 10% even though you are doing and selling as many cars as they do!

Just work the two weeks. Your new role should understand and adjust your start date accordingly. You might still get walked out in the two weeks, but definitely DO NOT do anything that will get you fired! Coast and attend your farewell luncheon ;)
Congratulations
