Yeah, it's definitely tough when you see how much you're making compared to others. But keep your head up! Something will come up eventually, even if it takes a bit longer than you want it to.
Thank you for the encouragement! I think part of it is comparison, but also realizing that I’m severely underpaid and way below market rate in the industry. I know some people have been job-hunting for several months up to a year, so I’m anticipating a long haul process.
It's definitely challenging right now. All I can say is that the more applications you send, the greater your odds, so don't give up. Also, it won't hurt to have your resume professionally optimized. I hired someone on upwork to do mine and it was worth every penny. Best of luck in your search. I hope you find something soon!
Thank you for your kind words! I just started having some friends in my network look over my resume every now and then. Getting it professionally optimized seems like a great option.
Thanks for your honesty here. I love positivity but sometimes it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one struggling right now in the job market. You deserve an equitable salary!
Thank you for your kind words! All the best in your job hunt!
Sorry, I have to ask…
Why’d you leave before finding a new one?? While you’re underpaid, it’s still a paycheque to tie you over until your next. That way you’re not stressed and discouraged.
Also, what’s your role/comp expectations/credentials?
Yah fair enough.
I don’t know marketing comp, but I don’t think their comp expectations based on having 5 years’ work experience.
Best of luck.
The job market is wonky is almost every industry. Try to keep your spirits ups. Have a career coach look over your resume. Also good for you for standing up for yourself and leaving the company who doesn't appreciate you
Proud of you for taking the step, I would also suggest you explore remote opportunities or Toronto based. The salary you mentioned was what some folks make as a new grad and I think part of the reason is Vancouver’s market.
No question market is rough now, but best of luck!
