I have been offered 137k£ OTE for Sr. SE role in a security company based out of London. YOE 10. Is it decent/good/bad? Please suggest.

It seems fairly decent. What else are they offering as far as bonuses, etc?

like

The bonus is approx. 14K with separate car allowance

I’m not sure about UK but for US that’s very low for the experience you have.

In US, Senior SE at a decent firm would be well over $200k

like

Considering the cost of living in London, I would’ve expected about 20-30k more. I started as a lead SE here in the US at $205k OTE plus 40k RSU in a tier II city.

like

For the UK, this seems reasonable to me with the bonus. No point comparing to the US as salaries are drastically different

Genuinely curious: how often do you feel truly happy/enthusiastic in your daily life? What exactly makes you happy? I hesitate to self diagnose w “high functioning depression” but I have all the hallmarks. Never been in an SE or consulting or B2B sales role before but have a referral at Salesforce and have been in some informal conversations. I’m starting to freak out a bit now that maybe I can’t do it. I have a tech background so can handle that part, but perhaps strategy may be difficult. Anyone make the transition to an SE role that have some advice?

I’m an SE who works 2 AE’s, and from looking at the market am on the bottom end of the pay scale. The company I work for has many different products/services (80+), so they wanted SEs to take on a local “SME” role in a specific area, to support other members of the team.

This role has ramped up quite a bit recently, and people have been coming to me for help with their deals (overviews, demos, POCs) which is increasing my workload.

How would you approach asking for more money here? Thanks!

I feel like I was straight up lied to during the interview process. “lots of opportunities to hit quota”. I’m sitting here with only one demo two months after joining the company. it looks like our team has only two people doing demos, and demos are only happening once every two weeks. At this rate, I don’t think I’ll be even close to hitting OTE. Are there any other companies hiring right now? I’ll have a discussion about my concerns with my manager soon, but there’s too many red flags here.
