I left PwC the beginning of last year. I worked remotely in IL but my home office was St. Louis. My W2 shows MO for taxes. Is this correct??

I think it should be the state where you actually work. When you do your timesheets, you should have used your actual location. Nobody knows, but I think your company can know by the IP or VPN location, could be off but I think they can know if you want to look into it.

like

Yeah, I always put IL on my timesheet

Pretty sure IL will any their cut also

I would think since you live in IL all of your income is taxable in IL. But then MO’s rules say they get to tax it if you’re working remotely for a MO company. I think you’d report all of your wage income to both and claim a credit on your IL return for MO taxes paid, so that you’re not double taxed.

Unfortunately no way for us to know of any of those statements are correct

Hi all, I have a question regarding retirement accounts. I am not sure if I should choose a Roth or 401k (company has 4+2% match). Currently 23, base salary is ~100k and investments have brought 45k this year which has me teetering between a 22-24% tax bracket. Wondering what the usual tax bracket is of people retired (around 65yo) as I’m not sure anything would bring in significant income with the exception of investments. In my case would a Roth make sense? Appreciate any answers!!

My SO and I are touring a home tomorrow that we’re considering purchasing. With COVID restrictions + high interest in the home, we only have a 15 minute time slot to tour it. Six wks later her 17yo wrecked it, air bags deployed, and estimates have ranged between $10-$18k in needed repairs while $21k is still owed. Acquaintance was switching insurance policies and flubbed the coverage dates and there were a few days where the vehicle was uninsured. No GAP insurance. I'm not seeing many options for her besides to continue pmts, fixing just enough to drive or voluntary repo. Thoughts?
