I love my job, it's been a while since my last raise. I feel like my contributions deserve recognition, but I'm also nervous about broaching the subject with my manager. I don't want to come across as entitled or damage our good working relationship. Has anyone successfully navigated this conversation? What's the best way to frame my request and highlight my accomplishments without seeming pushy? Any tips for preparing for this discussion and increasing my chances of a positive outcome?

I'm also dealing with this right now. I don't know if it will work or not, but one thing I mentioned was that due to inflation, they are paying me less now than they did when I had less experience in the role...which is just dreadful.

I’m in that situation now too. We have some new people who just joined the department who are probably starting higher than I am so I am going to bring that up along with accomplishments.

I always liked it when people were straight forward and discussed how their work warranted it. Don’t talk about what other people are making or inflation. If you regularly discuss “How do I get ahead” with your boss then you should have a roadmap and it’s a comfortable thing to talk about. Don’t stew about it for years, ask what you need to do to make more money. Also timing is everything. If you ask right after budget is set for the next year it will be more difficult. If you don’t know when timing is best for your company ask about that too! Hoping someone is just going to offer you more money especially in difficult times would be a pretty rare occurrence.

Decided to move out of state after this school year for my kids. I have a good job and a good boss. What’s a good way to be very professional and keep my work relationships in a good note.

I have accepted an offer for the role of Director of Data Science & Analytics and I'll be working with old colleagues. I am very excited. I haven't given notice yet because I am waiting for the background check to complete, but my boss just asked me about traveling to a meeting in November. I start at the new job Oct 25. I'm really struggling for how to respond. If I were not leaving it is absolutely a meeting I should be at. I don't want to respond with a lie. Any dvice on how to respond?

It’s a total shift that would really heal my work-life balance, job satisfaction and budget. My only fear is that I would not be using the license and degree that I worked so hard for. I would appreciate any input!!!!
