No one at junior levels wants extra work, especially for no reason. Let your team chill so they have some energy for the next burner
Talk to them individually and figure out what their ambitions are and then give them opportunities that allow them to stretch.
Yeah could be being able to dip their toes into something new on the current project or being able to line them up for something on future projects. Or it could be training and professional development.
Op which firm and group are you in? I would love to come work for you if I can get the same deal lol
Booz Allen in the Data Analytics space - I do have ambitions to grow this team (new data engineers, data scientists, and visualization folks) but I can’t financially justify new FTEs until I grow the workload a bit which is something I want to be very purposeful with

Ask them what they would like to do. Are you slowing their promotions by not exposing them to these other activities?
Good point - I suppose I should dive into their promotion plans and how I can help them reach those goals

i normally sht post on fishbowl but for an associate consultant this was surprisingly wholesome.
set up 1:1s with each of them, once per month (first, second, third, etc…) every friday at a recurring interval. “op <> managee 1:1”. lever as a forum to talk about what’s been going well, and what’s been going poorly and then segway to how you can enact change and what else you can do to get them to where they went to be.
