In the last two year I’ve gotten more and more into alcohol free beer. The selection in my country (Europe) is still small and mainly driven by the big brands (e.g. Heineken). My idea is to start my own small brewery which only produces alcohol free beer as a bit of a pendant to the booming local craft beer industry. We as the armed forces of the United States have a research department, but the greatest advances at the armament level come from private sectors, this could not be something counterproductive because if they sell a product to us, what deprives them of selling it to other countries?

If we analyze our military incursions in the world, we entered Vietnam and Afghanistan, and in neither of them, we have done very well. We have had many casualties, and they say that this is normal in a war. I think we have a problem with military planning, who thinks the same?

The death of my best friend in combat will forever haunt me, no matter how hard I want to accept it and let it go. I've been remembering every day since I came back. It's so hard to deal with this on my own.

What's the biggest life lesson joining the military taught you?

Take victories and defeats as equals! Nothing will teach young soldiers more than making mistakes in the heat of battle that almost cost you your life. If you're still breathing, there's something to learn. Listen to it.

I always have faith that everything will make sense, and we will move into a better era. Sometimes it's challenging to maintain that faith, but it's always there.

Getting into the military helped my feeling of abandonment due to my father's absence. It sounds funny, but being in the military showed me another type of parenthood that I needed.

Getting disability rated…I retire next year and seeing the doc for all my issues. They’re listed in Genesis under my active issues. Does that automatically count for when I retire or do I need to get appointments addressing these issues again after meeting with the VA?
