I always ask the question, “What is a problem you expect someone in this role to encounter?” I think it tells a lot about the role and the kinds of challenges someone in that position might face. It is one of my favorite questions to ask in an interview.
I like to put it in their court and ask if they had unilateral authority to change one thing within their department, What would they change or update. It’s a two full question where you get to learn a little something about areas that need improvement within the company and how management might go to bat for you.
It also shows you how willing they might be to listen to feedback from you if you’re there and have some ideas on changes for efficiency purposes or better balance.

I ask questions like “what would you consider is a success in this role” and depending on how the vibes of the interviewer was I might also ask “what do you like and dislike the most about working here”.
