I called sick.
do the interview on a Monday. fly out on Sunday, back on Monday evening. you were out of town for the weekend.
I’d request a personal day, to be on the safe side.
I called in sick for a day and a half to fly to LA from NY. Boss didn’t even notice my overnight bag. Didn’t hurt that my deskmate/work bff was in on it and corroborated my “food poisoning” story. Just don’t over sell it.
I take personal days. I try to make sure my team knows I’ll be out. But I definitely make up a story about why so they don’t get all weird and try to make me come in
Get out of the biz; you have no imagination.
Thanks all. I don’t think my agency technically has “personal days.” I’m under a microscope right now so I just want to make sure I do this the “right way.” 🤷♂️
I actually did what I suggested - who is going to question “I’m going away for a long weekend” - when I accepted the offer, not one person had a clue that I had flown cross country for an interview.
Personal day. It’s none of their business. That’s what I did for my last interview.
Make it notable that you’re going for an interview. Get fired. Get severance. Get the new job. Blammo.
Take a PTO day. You dont actually even need to give them a reason, but you can say you have an appointment. Then go rock the shit out of the interview and land this gig and make your current agency regret that they lost a great employee :)
