I am old school. If it's just for fun or vacation I ask in advance. If I get sick or have a 1 or 2 Day emergency I just state the issue and take PTO. As a leader, I always had the final say even though they could request it in the system. On more than a few occasions I had to deny. But I will say if it was an A+ employee in every way. My top dog or two, it would always be yes no matter what. So it pays to be a top performer!

I have NEVER had PTO denied since it is notification and not a request.

Lol. Your reaching.

It depends on your job. If you’re a shift worker, or a part of a team or assembly and your sudden disappearance disrupts things, then you need to coordinate your time off. Many jobs have a delivery schedule you have to meet, being gone suddenly can impact that.
If you’re not reliable, they find someone else who is…

Thankfully, I have never worked in any of those environments

I'm sure your manager appreciates every opportunity to not have to speak to you directly

Lol. I get great reviews every year . A 4 out of 5. Job well done .

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

Question: an employee was asked by his boss for same day turn around on responses/deliverables on a days he requested PTO. He completed the work. The manager wants to know if she can still deduct PTO time for the days requested, even though he completed work on those days. Help.

Any next week joiners?

If yes, please comment your DOJ as Monday(OCT 24th) is a public holiday.

We are seeing more pushback from employees on working 40 hours. We offer flexibility (wfh), 11 holidays and another 3 wks PTO. Seems like a good gig, I think, at 40-45 hrs. Anyone seeing this too?

I have a possible opportunity at Protiviti. Coming from big4 and wondering if Protiviti has fairly similar perks. I’ve read the 2022 benefits guide and it gave a oddly low PTO count of 16 days. Is this true and what about a holiday disconnect in the December time period? Are there any other hidden perks that are awesome? Already heard WLB is better and the culture, but I feel like I’ve gotta find that out first hand. Protiviti

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Job A - no career path upwards, high functioning team, generous benefits and unlimited time off. TC 185

Job B - clear career path, new team, chaotic corporation, but lots of room for growth and budget to hire staff. Ok benefits. TC 220

Remember, its okay to not be okay.
Take time off and do what you enjoy.

I want to take some time off to unwind, finish some personal business, and really prepare for interviews. I would like to hear from you. Should I quit to my current manager(5th so far) or wait after mid year performance review, when a new boss will take over my team? I'm thinking on giving them 2 months notice period. By contract is 1.

Thanks

My hope is to buy and rent out a apartment while also owning a house and house hacking that by renting part of it out. Just curious- how many 🐠 on this bowl are on OPT/ h1b (H) and how many have GC/citizenship (C)?

Travelling to NYC in November for the first time and there's a reasonably priced airbnb in Central Harlem. Is that a safe area for 4 females to roam around late at night? I also read on Reddit that short term rentals in NYC are illegal...? Is that true? Should I avoid Airbnbs?

Hello anyone reading this! I wanted to ask for any realistic, recommended job positions from someone with more knowledge and experience. I am graduating this December with my BBA and am ready to leave the job I’m in now. I’ve been applying for a range of positions I qualify for and nothing so far, which I expected. I have 3 years of experience in management operations but also have 6 years of experience with child care, is that why I may be getting rejected? Maybe I’m overthinking my resume? 😅
