I once learned late in the process that the role would report directly to a senior leader, which changed my view of the responsibility and impact. It made me wonder if that should factor into compensation. Have you ever renegotiated pay after learning more about reporting structure?

It really shouldn’t have any impact on what is expected of you and it’s not uncommon for smaller companies to have less middle management and senior leadership to be more involved in day to day work.

Very fair. Thank you!

I’ve never experienced that, and honestly, not too sure what I’d do in that situation. What is your concern? I’d need to ask some clarifying questions.

like

I think the concern is the role might be more high visibility and high expectations than I originally thought

Nope. It's the work that matters, not who you report it to. I'd understand asking for more if you got a last minute curveball and were expected to take on 10 previously unmentioned responsibilities, but that's not the case here. If anything, I'd see that as a blessing, not a curse. Actively working with a senior leader means you're going to get serious visibility which is great for your future prospects.

Thoughts? Should I go higher? I do my job well that’s why they decided to keep me as a contractor after my internship.

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?
