How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.

I have recently joined EY SaT group as senior consultant recently in Netherlands. I’m tripple masters in MS economics, MBA and MS business analytics. Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? I’ll be working as expert on commercial due diligence, FDD and valuation teams and doing automation alongside. is it wise to demand higher salary or promotion soon after I have proven that I can work and do it better than most?EY

Maybe just accept that you spent the first year getting acclimated and don't get too down on yourself. And then set up a reasonable plan to go after your goals. A lot of times it's just a matter of breaking the ice, getting started on something will energize you. And then come up with a schedule that lets you do the extra stuff you'd like to pursue. You may find you just don't have time for all of it, so prioritize what's most important and just know you'll get to the other stuff when time allows. Just keep it practical, move from step to step, and the big picture will take care of itself.
I feel the same way, OP. Feel like the first year was a waste, which sucks because the transition time is understandable, but we're also shelling out money for that...
