I vote neither. While I don’t know your goals, based on your background I think you should wait and try to get a strategy or BD role at a biotech. You’re losing your area of expertise in life sciences by going to Mastercard. There are a ton of jobs in LS right now. You can easily find something that is the perfect fit.
I honestly am trying to decide between the two. I think I am more cut out for BD. Probably will look for BD in pharma/biotech. Haven’t done BD before besides for my own startup and informally elsewhere. I have done digital product management and feel like the med affairs role I landed is looking for someone with digital / tech experience vs. needing as much LS experience - I am not saying that my academic training in the LS doesn’t factor here but probably was more of a check the box in terms of matching the candidate profiles that they were looking to fill this role with.

I’d say Mastercard. Moderna higher potential but seems a lot more volatile
What about acquisition though or existing products and patent expiries.

Mastercard
Why?
Would personally rather do something techy than meddy
My thoughts for leaning Mastercard: Innovative and really building its services business. Stable even in this economy. High net profit margins. I’ll be working for a revenue center. Really interested in BD.
Case against Moderna: Medical affairs is a cost center. 44 candidates in pipeline but still pretty volatile on account of learning how to be a commercial company. Medical affairs isn’t the most exciting area. I like digital product ownership, which is what this role will do but want to try BD.
Sure, on paper Moderna TC is $80K more than Mastercard but don’t want that to be the motivating factor alone. I am concerned though about what career path will offer better prospects down the road: BD or Medical Affairs?
