Hi,
I have around 4+ years experience as a technical support engineer for Microsoft processes like windows, exchange server and worked on both b2c and b2b environments. I would like to get in Vmware as a support specialist role or technical support engineer. I don't hold a degree at the moment, but doing a distance degree now. Will VMware consider this and is there any way for me to get in for these roles? Please share your comments.VMware
Hi Fishes, Sometime back I was interviewed for Technical Support Job role in my domain. T1 went well. T2, in my understanding was better only (not great like T1 but not blunder. I felt it was nice and i replied majority of questions). They released the feedback after 10 days with "Not Positive". I am not totally sure with feedback as I replied majority of questions correct. I am being bit curious with "Microsoft" tag. What can be the reason?
Discussion appreciated.

Globant India Pvt. Ltd. Hi Globers ! I have an offer from Globant for the role of a BA. While discussing the role with HR pre and post the interviews & offer, I had specifically ask the HR to tag me to Ahmedabad location as that's my hometown and I do not wish to relocate. But she has rolled out the offer for Pune location ane verbally ( isn't giving me in writing ) assured me that the location will be flexible. May I know from the fellow Globers if we have location flexibility or WFH option available? Globant India Pv

Hi guys, Now VMware is offering me a 35% percent hike of what I am earning at DellEmc. I just completed one year at DellEmc. Total 2.7YOE But I don't like to go out of Dell, due to some personal commitments I am planning to switch.
Is it a good time to switch?
Can I talk with my manager ?
Are they able to hike the salary of what VMware is offering? Please suggest me.

I don’t think that’s rude at all. You can say you’re not looking to step up right now, but you’d like your pay to reflect the additional responsibilities you’ve taken on, especially the ones that go beyond your original role.
Thanks so much! Absolutely, I think I want to make it clear to them that I do eventually want to get to the management point, but I’m not quite ready just yet personally!
It’s lovely to be seen as ready from their side though!
Unfortunately, the time to ask for a pay raise was when your workload increased. As has been pointed out, your boss now considers your current workload to be manageable for you. You can definitely try to negotiate, but you don’t have much leverage unless you’re willing to quit.
I only started taking on these roles in the last 2 months. So it’s still fairly recent, and it’s a whole level up from my current role.
At the time when we said about introducing the new tasks, pay was spoken about but it didn’t happen. Hence me wanting to bring it up now
You’re cooked
Hey OP, I think you’re well within your rights however do reference the original conversation regarding increase when you took over the extra duties. I’ve been there too so I know how it feels!
Good luck & I’ve got faith they’ll reasonable. That said, it is also a good idea to perhaps dust off that CV & update it with your new skill set
From my own experience when a request for an increase of wages has resulted in any resistance followed by either denial or an unsatisfactory increase it is best to do some market value research on your position along with an honest self evaluation of your own current value to your employer considering the circumstances of your situation for comparing wages. Also consider benefits you already receive and include them for comparison. Then evaluate inflation and the loss of buying power your wages have suffered as a result. Companies adjust costs to customers/clients to maintain their profits and often increase them significantly by not adjusting pay rates of employees. Present all this information without discussing any coworkers shortcomings as it's not about what others don't provide it's about what you do provide in value to your employer and that also means not allowing them to compare your wages to coworkers as the discussion is about your wages only. Business is business on both sides of the negotiation table and when presented in simple numbers that prove your value with facts that are easily proven, even when met with resistance often result in successful outcomes for an acceptable wage increase. Personal case in point, just recently had my own wage negotiations where %3 was the offer I declined while requesting near 13% and at time of agreement settled at 9.6% plus an additional week of PTO. However you must be willing to walk away if unsatisfied so either have a contingency plan in place or at least in mind.
Just state your request directly, or you can be tactful, such as mentioning how long you've worked there or how your financial situation is getting worse. Your supervisor should be able to understand the underlying message.

Yeah that’s my plan. Tbh I think I’m working it up in my head, but we are a really small close company and my bosses are lovely so it should be okay!
Offer to step up as they said, but on the condition you get something in writing that says if you hit x, y, z metrics, they’ll deliver X% in compensation increase. If they’re not at least open to that discussion, it’s because they’re playing you

I don’t want to step up though, I’m very happy where I am right now I just want to be compensated for the additional work I’ve taken on in the last year that doesn’t come under my job title, if that makes sense?

Telling an employer that your current role is a great fit for you and that you are fortunate that increased demand on your team have made it such that you are able to keep learning and enjoying the role within the organization and would be even more grateful if your extra effort is reflected in your compensation.
I thin they are telling you not to let the door hit you in the as@ on the way out.
When you are going up to the manager, you have to expand your way of thinking outside of yourself. Place yourself in perspective of a coach, the head of any sports team you can think of. Now you have one player who is constantly asking for more but won't produce more. Then there's another player that's constantly out performing and increasing audience members, seller major amounts of merchandise and knows how to work an interview for public relations purposes. The 2nd player is more than likely to get that increase they could be looking for .
There's a little twist though, if you have a qualified life change that is in accordance to your HR policy you could always use that as means for an increase in pay.
To be the most honest with you, when you present what you're doing to get an increase and you mention you took up only one or two more responsibilities, you give the managers a reason to reconsider why they have you in the position you're in now. Reconsider.
Last but not least, you sound unhappy with where you are. You might want to start looking elsewhere or looking for a position within your current company that would intrigue you so you could be attracted to do your job.

I’m actually really happy in my currently role and don’t want to move anywhere else, hence me saying I don’t want to step up to management.

Look for a new job, then quit once you have a new job. They are taking your raise and putting it into their own pockets. Dont be a simp.
