I recently left my job as a licensed claims adjuster for 8 yrs at a travel insurance company due to burnout, feeling stuck and being way underpaid. I’m trying to seek employment at other insurance companies(not necessarily in travel insurance), but I’m finding out it is very hard to land a job unless you have experience in other areas such as Worker's Comp, property & casualty, etc. Any advice you can give me?. I am thinking of taking online courses/getting licensed in other ins. TIA.

Currently I make a base of $63k/yr and $1k/mo in bonuses pre-tax. I manage a performance for a team of licensed insurance agents (service-based role in a direct business environment), maintain our business relationships, and support adhoc training needs. Is there anyone else in this type of role who is able to share how this compares to similar positions and your general location?

In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?
