I seem to be having issues at the screening call stage where I get rejected after without moving forward to the interview stage. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I am wondering if it’s all coming down to compensation. I get farther in the process when compensation isn’t brought up until later. When it’s brought up at the screening call, I’m told it’s not a good fit even within range. I have even started being vague about comp by not giving a number and that still leads me to the same end.

Can anyone help me wrap my head around this post Series C start-up equity offer? It’s an IP director position, the the base is $170 with 10% bonus (both lower than I was expecting). There’s also an equity component: 0.15% of current fully diluted equity. This equates to about 30000 shares at a strike price of $2. They also indicate the preferred stock price is $6 and preferred stock equity is $188k (whatever that means). They are in the middle of a new financing and valuation round.

I have a coworker who keeps spouting comparative odds and situations in regards to the safety of the vaccine. Such as: you're twice as likely to get hit by lightening than have blod clots from JJ. It's very annoying and I find it to be really inapprorpriate, maybe because it's pushy or just I find these comparative things to be a bit irrelevant. How does one handle something like that?
