I am desperate to find a new job because my current job is sh*ty.
But ppl who have done PI/ID told me that our current job is better than PI/ID, which makes me think maybe I should look for sth out of law.

My pain point is about lack of transferable skills and the toxic culture of the workplace
You can always pivot to ID.
A lot of folks crap on ID, but although it is firm/office/practice group dependent, it can be a pretty good gig. $250k+ very doable, 45-ish hour weeks, a lot of fully remote work options, no fear of layoffs...it's not a bad option for those who aren't in the running for a V20.
Actually, when I was in big law, we had an ID “subsidiary” in the litigation department. If I remember correctly they were always busy. Mostly high-profile cases though.
