Hello folks, I came from a non-tech marketing background, with a little customer facing startup product management experience. Currently at TechM, I'm working on Client project for MS, there is no proper KT, as they just gave a one note for all onboarding related threads and there's zillion teams meetings every day despite the fact that mine is a day shift, I need to attend calls after 9.00pm and sometimes after 10.00pm as well. And I'm absolutely clueless about the cloud/Azure/ Microsoft

For me, often the hiring manager says “hang on before you get back to them.” Or some other dumb shift happens — they decide to re write the brief, change the budget or just noodle w stuff. And am just sitting here — waiting to get back to the 10 people I interviewed. It sucks on this end too!
I feel this comes from a lack of investment in the candidate experience. The hiring managers I work with are so focused on the rest of their day to day tasks that they forget that there is a real person waiting on the other end for a decision from us. Often times I’ve lost good talent over delays like this because we waited too long and they took an offer elsewhere.
I agree 100% with T.A.S. 1, and included some more feedback as I worked with Junior Hiring Managers all the way to SEVP's and in almost 90% of the cases where I also said I would get back to you as the candidate by 5pm, the delay and ghosting in a sense, was always due to the hiring manager, their manager, or some external to me, delay.
However, I would often call or email the next day and say no more than that I apologize, but I'm still waiting on next steps and once I receive them I will reach out ASAP.
But sometimes then a week goes by and I start to feel really bad about the situation and that's when the consultative aspect of a great recruiter really shines, in being an advocate for both sides, allowing a win-win for all involved (or at least the one getting the offer).
Lack of professionalism is rampant and can be a reflection of the company.
