Hi All, My Junior has decided to put paper, as she wanted to pursue Cdac course from Sept-22. She just informed that she signed a bond of 2 years and currently she has completed 1.7 years in HCL. What should she do now? Results is on 10-aug and she decided to put paper on that day itself (Earlier she told the same to Sr. manager) Kindly suggest if any action would be taken by HCL OR No experience letter would be shared with her. The key question is: why did you want to leave in the first place? If the counteroffer solves that — a new role, better manager, clearer growth — it might be worth considering. But if it’s just more money to stay in the same situation, it’s usually a temporary fix. I’ve seen people stay and thrive, and others regret not making the leap.
Exactly, the “why” matters most. A counteroffer that changes the role or growth path can be valuable, but just money rarely fixes the underlying issues.
I did TWICE. The company I worked for was great, but my salary was just too different compared to market. I think they saw the hunger in me and the potential, and when I got competing offers they matched both salary and also importantly opportunity wise. This was a big company, so they had many options. The first time they moved me to a different team, the next time to a different project, with more responsibility. I think this helped me a lot raising the bar and growing. I would have never done it if I didn't like the company I worked for and they didn't treat me well.
That’s a great example. When the company matched both opportunity and compensation, it became a real growth moment rather than just a retention move.
