I was in the cafeteria yesterday and overheard a group of colleagues openly discussing a patient's sensitive medical history. It made me really uncomfortable. I know it's a serious HIPAA violation, but I'm hesitant to report them directly to management. It could create a really awkward situation and damage our working relationships. On the other hand, I can't just let it slide. Has anyone else dealt with a similar situation? What's the best course of action here?

I had to report someone due to literally seeing them not taking vitals. An "investigation" was done, and I was basically called a liar, and the person was not even notified of their wrongdoing. So my best advice would be to have solid proof. Things have been hell for me since I did what was right and reported it. Proof is everything. Good luck!!!
