I was laid off from ACN and accepted an offer at D for a C role in GPS almost 2 years ago out of desperation. I want to get out asap, mainly because of the money. Currently making $98k. I have an offer doing the same exact work, but for a 1+YR contract at a F500 making 2x salary + benefits. What would you do?

Unless you have visa issues, take it and negotiate contract to perm with the company. Take it, you may be able to expense many items for tax purposes, if you take a corp to corp contract. Research the tax aspects and how much insurance would cost, make sure the 2x comp is adequate to cover additional expenses that may be paid by D right now.

Good points, thanks for the advice. Unfortunately no C2C allowed.

like

I'd stay and look for permanent exits. I assume it'll be easier to job hunt when I'm in an environment where I'm already established. I also want to avoid having to job hunt 6 months into a 1 year contract because extension or permanent role is uncertain.

like

If not C2C, then will it be via a Payroll org or Sole prop? Payroll org is essentially like an employee.. pls find put what is the %age cut for the payroll co. If Sole prop, the expenses etc are deductible similar to incorporated. Seconding M1 - pls research taxation, set up costs. Consult with a CPA, its worth the exp to get good advise for an informed decision. Best of luck OP!

like

Take the cash. By 2025 the job market will be booming and you can probably get an even higher paying role by then. Pointless making half the money at D.

I'm looking for advice from those who have freelanced remotely with an international agency.

I'm based in NYC and have had firms in Canada and England reach out about projects. The agencies have offices in the US but I would be working w/ their international teams (servicing US based clients). I've asked for my standard rate in USD converted to their currency.

Any advice on the best way to get paid? Have you asked to get paid by the US office instead? Any watch-outs for tax season?

TIA!

Looking for referrals for a Technical Sales Executive position that is Remote (USA), possibly in the industrial sector. Last year I made $109k at AT&T so I'm hoping to at least stay in the same ball park but want a change. I have lots of experience selling IT/telecom, but I also have a Mechanical Engineering background so I'm a good fit for a wide range of technical sales. I have been thinking a role in the industrial sector with a longer sales cycle may be a good fit, can travel up to 25%

Hi, what kind of salary should I expect from London consultancies with 1 year experience as an Analyst at Accenture?

I’m working in analytics with some currently in Python and R, and some AWS exposure with the cloud fundamentals cert (which doesn’t mean much I know 😂) and would be looking for a similar data-focussed role.

If anyone knows of any open roles and would be happy to do a referral etc then please also let me know.

Thanks 😊

Hi, just wondering how the staffing situation has been in strategy consulting in general? My sibling started a job in strategy in Silicon Valley 2 months ago after MBA. She has been on the bench for 2 months and was informed that there has been a shortage of jobs (within the job) and the amount of people on the bench is getting high. She has been under a lot of stress although she had many great networking calls with people. I wanted to help but can't identify what she can improve on.

I’m trying to fix up my resume to apply to other companies. It’s my first resume fix since college so I’m trying to see what to include/ take out.
1) Do I keep my internships? My leadership experiences in college?
2) How do I organize my engagement experiences - All combined bullets or separated by client?
3) How about my internal efforts? (I did 3 internal projects within the firm)
4) Education on top or bottom?

If anyone has a good resume example, please do share!

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?

Is Operations paid the least at your respective firms? I was hired to a Client Service Delivery role with a heavy focus on project management. I regularly interface with leadership internally and at the client. But, I am aligned to the “Operations” capability and make the least of my teammates who perform seemingly identical work but are aligned to “Strategy and Consulting.” I worry I’m on a career path to being paid the least wherever I go, because Operations is in my title and background.
