BUT DONT PUT AVAILABLE FOR WORK ON YOUR LINKEDIN!
I personally wouldn’t have used the badge last year. But it is terrible terrible market right now. I’m seeing so many talented laid off people it’s insane. Use the badge.
I did change my status and I’m glad I did. The number of people who reshared my post was overwhelming! So many thousands of people are now aware that I’m available. I know so many people on a personal level and their support and encouragement and confidence that I will find another job gave me the boost I needed to carry on.
I asked someone for her opinion about changing my status who I highly respect from one of my previous jobs and she said definitely do it and I’m glad I did. I’ll repost after Labor Day as well when everyone is back to work. Thanks for all your comments. ,
While traditional wisdom suggests waiting until after Labor Day to intensify your job search, the current market is unpredictable. It's advisable to start updating your LinkedIn profile and expanding your job search efforts immediately. Don't limit yourself to just LinkedIn, explore other platforms to increase your visibility. Here are some alternative platforms to LinkedIn for your job search: Indeed, Glassdoor, and Jobsolv.

I’d do it now. I know people who are currently interviewing with agencies.
Immediately? lol

Glad it worked out. Best of luck.
Thank you!
Definitely be honest. People might think of you if they know you are out of a job.
Sorry but it really doesn’t matter. It’s an overcrowded market, especially on LinkedIn, and recruiters don’t really pay attention to the open to work banner on LinkedIn. Start networking immediately. Actively reaching out to companies and talking to people is how you’ll get a job not passively adding an open to work to your LinkedIn profile picture and waiting for someone to find you. Good luck.
Where were you working?
The job market is tough right now. You need to start as soon as possible. Tailor your resume to each position. If you have to apply using workday, dont expect many of any responses from those. They are all using ATS now. LinkedIn easy apply seems great, but many times 800-900 people have applied to those in less than 24 hours. I’m not saying not to, but just a warning. My best advice to you is to network. If you see someone you know with a job at that place already and there’s an open position, reach out to them. Good luck.
