Sorry to hear that. It's unfortunate, but not surprising. Some people are very attuned to people's careers, and being laid off can seem like a mark against someone. It shouldn't be that way, of course. In any event, you learned something about the other person which is also a red flag.
I’m a female lawyer who was laid off. I was dating another lawyer for a month and during that month my biggest fear was for him to find out I was laid off. I just played it cool and never said a thing. I did mention I didn’t like my “current” law firm and shared some horror stories with him so it made sense why I was interviewing with other law firms. There’s a stigma attached to being laid off. I wouldn’t volunteer that information to anyone unless absolutely necessary. I wouldn’t even tell the firms I was interviewing with. People warned me about the real dates of my employment coming up in my background check, but it never did.
That's unfair. Sorry you had to experience that. I don't think it's that big a deal unless you're completely broke just because you lost your job. As long as you can still pay for the bill or at least go Dutch, I personally wouldn't be concerned about it. Idk about the rest.
Ugh that is really tough. The dating scene is hard enough as it is. I am sorry that happened to you.
Women want security, a bi-product of employment and a salary. Unconsciously, the woman is judging you on how fit your are to provide a stable environment for her, even if she works herself. You're not passing the test! It bothers me too though because feminism was supposed to create equality so that both sexes bore the burden of economic support of the household, but millions of years of evolution are hard to fight. Ultimately, you're the victim of the judgment!
It’s a survival instinct thing.
When want security and financial safety. When you’re unemployed you can’t provide that. You’re like kryptonite!!
