I work in a place where people came in late all the time with no consequences. And I mean up to an hour. I feel that I need to get assertive or else people will walk over me if I let them. There are so many slackers in this industry who let others do the work for them. Your thoughts on how to address this?

I just come in and do my work and mind my own business. If everyone else is slacking it will show. I would be concerned if the business is starting to fail bc of others lack of drive but as long as the business isnt suffering then i would just go about doing your work.

I would document every time you have had an overtime punch. Note the reason. Then, ask to speak to your boss and make your case. They need to know that you do not want to work overtime on a regular basis. This will make them pay attention. Tell them you like your job and would like to continue working there, but make it clear that you cannot continue as is. Good luck.

I feel you on this. Those are the ones who punch out on time, will leave a customer hanging and they just don't care. No matter how much you try to get through to them, they just don't care. You've got to act a little like them.

Any of you 3-6 PQE associates have your own clients? I would really love to do some business development with tangible results. I want to have my own clients or atleast bring some to the firm. As more and more companies institute a work from home policy, I think it will gradually become the norm. As a 28 year old man who wants to settle down soon, which city would you recommend I look into, assuming me and my partner can work from home? I work in Cybersecurity so would prefer to be closer to the jobs in my field without having to live in the same city.

I’m trying to transfer departments at my company and I talked to the MD of the department i wanna transfer to, and told him working remotely is a requirement to me, and he said he’s not sure if that’s possible, and that would depend on HR and the hiring manager. He still forwarded my resume to HR and I got an interview. How should I negotiate to make the role fully remote?

I’ll start hooking up with someone with no intention of dating them because of red flags, but if the sex is good I want to lock it down for the future (even if we are not compatible in our personality, I’ll start to see them in a positive way and flirt more since it makes the sex even better)! The guy starts to think I want a relationship (which is half true) and then distances himself. Anyone else go through this cycle?
