I cringe when I'm at a friend's house and they answer their phone, find out it's a telemarketer, and just hang up on them. It's so rude. They know I have to cold-call people at my job and you'd think they would at least act like they were more respectful of the job.

unfortunately I think that's just a lot of people's first instinct nowadays

You should remind your friend nicely! If they are your true friend I think they would understand why this upsets you / hurts your feelings.

Things have been super stressful at work lately for a variety of reasons & a couple of weeks ago I decided to raise the issues with my Creative Director.

I just had my annual review with the company I’ve been working at for a year. During the review, I made my requests- one of which is to be promoted to Director of Marketing. Here's mine: I was working in the call center and I was explaining to a customer that he had used up all his credit and that's why he couldn't surf the Internet on his phone. He started to insult me for 8 minutes and, due to company policies, I could not hang up until he had finished.
