I would like to apply for an associate in-house counsel position for a large food and beverage company. I have over a decade of legal experience working mostly in civil (family/child welfare) and criminal law. I did co-own two business in which I did all the legal work and a portion of the operations. One business, I am a minority shareholder and the majority shareholders want to now file for BK due to covid. The other business I co-owned, I lost in a divorce to my ex-husband. See comments ...

With this background, do I even have a shot at going into the corporate world? If so, any advise on the cover letter or resume?

What's the practice area of the position? Also, do you have any connections at this company? What kinds of companies were you co-owner of?

The position’s practice area is general corporate law (commercial/business transactions, employment law, food and beverage, land use and dispute resolution). I co-owned a tech startup that developed software for 24hr fitness gym access. Most recently, I co-owned a cocktail catering business. The position is with a food and beverage delivery corporation.

I will do that. Thank you for your input!

Considering a Product Owner role. Any best practices of what questions to ask during an interview? First phase deals with a virtual Teams interview with the recruiter and her manager on Tuesday. Excited since this is a hop from a Product Analyst role and entails an offer of over $30,000 from what I'm getting now! This would be a permanent full-time compared to my current contractor role that ends in March.
